CALLING U FROM A ROOF TOP IN HALLE ( GERMANY )
COME, LIVE IN THIS REAL SHRINKING CITY, IF HOME LESS.
Possible HALLE-WALLEY:
The moment I saw Halle ( the shrinking city), I thought of homeless people.
Millions of them living on our planet.
"What about the idea of transporting homeless from all over the world to
this Shrinking City ", I said in a jest to Julia Neunhausen, with whom I visited the city. Though I spent just three nights there, but it was enough for me to get the feel and frightening emptiness of the city in contrast to other cities which are brimming with people. The empty city is still there, and the homeless people are still here and every where. This too has history, and most unfortunately the ongoing wars and conflicts only contribute to this phenomenon of 'this homelessness' and pain. Indeed it is sheer utopian, to say that people should be settled this way, but it can become reality one day, like many erestwhile fantasies of the past were realized by time. If we all feel spontaneously about this empty space vis-a-vis homelessness , then i believe it will happen one day. I dont where and in which way. We are profoundly clueless about the world's real commerce and other practicalities, so we can always sing, "let us say yes to UTOPIA". I quoted from Cris Durcan ( Art critic/Curator Berlin)my vita:
